Information about Google Drive
Google is currently demanding stricter security policies, and is requiring apps to support Google Drive indirectly through the Google Drive app instead of directly accessing it.
Unfortunately, access to Google Drive will only be possible by creating your own client id and client secret, otherwise Google would require a security assessment following the extremely strict OWASP standard. Unfortunately it is impossible for EasyViewer to follow these rules:
- OWASP requires to follow very specific rules when developing a program. It cannot be applied to an existing program, so EasyViewer would have to be rebuilt from scratch. This is completely impossible within a reasonable time frame.
- OWASP rules are very strict, so EasyViewer would no longer be able to support Google Drive.
- The security assessment would have to be performed by a specialized company, and costs up to $75'000 per year and program. This is not sustainable even with a subscription.
Apps used by many users, such as Total Commander, have also been denied Google Drive permissions and are now blocked from accessing Google Drive.
Due to the stricter Google security policy, Google is gradually blocking the permissions of apps that support Google Drive.
Soon, other apps will no longer be able to support Google Drive.
In conclusion, EasyViewer will no longer be able to access Google Drive.
